Oberst Legal is the Oklahoma-based law firm of attorney Keaton Oberst. Oberst Legal limits its practice to three
specific areas: expungement; debt collection defense, harassment, abuse, and identity theft; and qualified domestic
relations order drafting.

Expungement
Expungement is the process of removing records, relating to arrests, prosecutions, and convictions, from the public
view.  Expunged records are sealed under a court order. No one besides law enforcement can ever see them again.
And even then, law enforcement will have to go through the process of getting a court order first.

Debt collection—defense, harassment, abuse, and identity theft.
Oberst Legal defends people who are sued by debt collectors but for whom bankruptcy is not the best option. This often
includes people who have experienced identity theft or been on the receiving end of the threatening or abusive
treatment of a debt collector. Other times, a debt collector is not legally entitled to collect or is unable to come up with
necessary evidence. If you are being sued, don't leap to conclusions; educate yourself and make an informed decision
basd on what is in your best interest.

The division of pension and retirement accounts—the qualified domestic relations order.
Retirement account balances, along with the right to receive payments from a retirement plan, that are accumulated
during a marriage are marital property, co-owned by each spouse.  A qualified domestic relations order, or QDRO for
short, is a state court order instructing a retirement plan administrator to divide a plan participant's account in a way that
is consistent with federal pension law. A QDRO is usually necessary to divide the marital portion of a retirement
account. Oberst Legal drafts and reviews qualified domestic relations orders for divorce lawyers, their clients, and
anyone else who needs to divide a:

  • 401(k), 457, or 403(b) retirement account,
  • right to receive future payments under a pension plan,
  • right to receive military retired pay, or
  • right to receive future payments under a federal, state, or local governement retirement plan.
